Banks, drop-offs and blue water
Anguilla sits on a wide, shallow bank, so the reefs and cays around it, from Dog Island and Prickly Pear to Scrub Island, hold snappers, groupers, jacks and barracuda. Run off the edge of the bank and the water drops fast into blue water, where wahoo, tuna, mahi-mahi and marlin travel. St. Martin and St. Barth sit close to deep water too, and charter boats out of Simpson Bay, Marigot and Gustavia run offshore for the same big fish.
Much of the water around St. Martin and St. Barth is part of their nature reserves, where fishing is limited or not allowed. Those areas show in red on the map.
