CARIBBEAN LAKES & RIVERS FISHING MAP

Fishing Hot Spots

The Caribbean has fresh water too: big largemouth bass in Cuba's reservoirs and lagoons, bass in the Dominican Republic's mountain lakes, and tarpon and snook up Jamaica's Black River. Puerto Rico's lakes are on the Puerto Rico map. Tap any star or dot to see what it is and what to fish there.

Parks & rules

Data rule: Lake stars are the OpenStreetMap center of the named lake, or the dam when that's what is mapped, and the river star is the OpenStreetMap town position; these are general positions, not pinpoints, and each star says so. Protected areas come from the World Database on Protected Areas: dashed red allows fishing under local rules, solid red is no fishing. Every star shows its source when you tap it. BigJoe does not invent coordinates. The exact sources used on this map are listed under Map sources & checks below.

Bass in the islands

Largemouth bass were brought to Cuba long ago and grew big in reservoirs like Zaza, Hanabanilla and Alacranes, and in the Laguna de la Leche and La Redonda near Morón. Cubans call them "trucha".

The Dominican Republic has bass and tilapia in Hatillo, Tavera and Sabana Yegua, and in Jamaica, tarpon and snook run up the Black River. For Puerto Rico's lakes, open the Puerto Rico map and tap Lakes & Rivers.

Rules: each country has its own rules, and in Cuba visiting anglers fish through licensed operators. Check before you go.
