Island hopping for amberjack, dentex and bluefin
The clear, deep water around the Croatian and Greek islands is home to amberjack, dentex and grouper, and bluefin tuna run through the Adriatic and the Ionian. Vis and the outer Dalmatian islands are Croatia's big-game ground.
Night squid fishing is a local favorite in autumn from Istria to the Aegean, and the Cyclades and Crete hold amberjack and dorado in late summer.
Rules: Croatia sells recreational licenses online, Montenegro and Albania need permits, Greece sets sizes and gear rules, and national parks have their own restrictions.
On the bay, in the mangroves or on the ocean, the everyday struggles get left at the dock. For those few hours, it's just you, the water and peace.
