Parks & rules

Data rule: Points, bays, keys, marinas and boat ramps come from OpenStreetMap. Marine parks come from the World Database on Protected Areas. Fishing spots are only placed on mapped named places, and never inside or next to a no-fishing area. BigJoe does not invent coordinates. The exact sources used on this map are listed under Map sources & checks below.

Deep water close in and steady trade winds

The ABC islands sit in deep blue water just north of Venezuela, so wahoo, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi and blue and white marlin are a short run from shore, especially off the north and west points of each island. The south and west coasts are calm and sheltered, with reef edges for snappers, jacks and barracuda, and bays like Lac Bay on Bonaire hold bonefish and tarpon on the flats. The north coasts take the full trade wind and swell, so plan around the weather.

Bonaire's whole coast is a National Marine Park with strict rules: no spearfishing, and no fishing in the marine reserves. Curaçao has the Oostpunt underwater park and Aruba has its own marine park zones. No-fishing areas show in red on the map, and BigJoe does not put fishing spots in or next to them. Check STINAPA (Bonaire), CARMABI (Curaçao) and Aruba's rules before you fish.
